This is a black and white portrait that I took of my sister in the pool. I enjoy this photo for the lighting, composition, action, and the fundamentals. The lighting is really nice and bright and allows you to see her emotion. Secondly her action, as she cringes away from the water, it brings emotion. The composition is also good, I left in the rail she was holding, to bring in a more natural and finished look. Lastly, I have max black, max white, and nice focus.

I graded Ben Robles. I gave him a 7/10 on his best of fall and spring because, some were missing captions and some photos were missing dates. I gave his week 3 a 7/10 because he was missing some daily work and photo edits, as well as missing one blog.
I was graded by Enrique. He gave me an 8/10 for my best of fall and spring, and 8/10 for week three. This is a photo that I took of a waterfall at a Kaiser hospital. I enjoy this photo because the lighting and focus. The lighting is bright and gives the photo nice dimeson. The focus is also sharp, and not fuzzy at all. I think I could have improved on my composition. I say this because there is a lot of sky and open space at the top of the photo, that does not make very much sense. Therefore this photo could have been better, if I had taken more time.
This photo was taken by fine art photographer, Minor White. This photo is spectacular for three reasons in particular. First is lighting, second is focus, and third is the composition. The lighting of this image is subtle and soft, giving the whole image it's own delicate feel. The focus is sharp and rough, adding onto the feeling of softness, giving it contrast. Lastly, the way Minor composed this image ties the whole photo together, making it feel whole and interesting.
Self Grade for BVH DMS: I believe that I deserve an 85 percent. Although my photos are mediocre, I am not very proud of some of them. However, I have finished uploading at least one photo in 10 different categories. I believe that due to my creativity, I deserve at least a B. The focus in most of my photos is good, the lighting is good, and in most of my photos, I really enjoy the composition. All in all, I still believe that I deserve a passing grade, but definitely not a failing grade.
I give myself a 95%. I give myself a 95, because I meet the creativity level for this competition by showcasing different angles, as well as composition ideas. In addition, my focus is sharp, my colors are bright, and my black and white photos have max black and max white, All my photos have been taken in Chula Vista, and National City. Which are the required areas for an entry. I also follow the theme of water in daily life by showcasing it through still life, and creative photos in general. Lastly, my photos also have an aesthetic or visual appeal. They are creative, and I think, good enough to win. All in all, I am proud of these photos and how they showcase my level of photography.
I graded Deanna and Francisco. For Deanna on the press release, I gave her 10 out of 10, because she has good grammar, composed her webpage nicely, and added photo credits. For her week two, I gave her a 10 out of 10, for having all of her two daily photos, had her photo edits, and her Sweetwater Authority. For Francisco, I gave him a 8/10 for his press release because, his grammar was not the best, and the composition of his press page was a tad confusing. For his week two, I gave him a 9/10, he had everything, however his weeks were not divided properly by headings.
I was graded by Deanna and Madelyn. Deanna gave me 10 out of 10 on my press release, and 10 out of 10 on my week two work. Madelyn also gave me 10 out of 10 on press release, as well as 10 out of 10 on my week two work. This photo was taken by Robert Frank, a documentary photographer. I enjoy this image because it has a fantastic use of fundamentals, lighting, and focus. By fundamentals, I mean his use of the rule of thirds, he aligns the action on the imaginary lines of the tic-tac-toe grid. He also utilizes max black and max white, composing it as a true black and white image. His lighting is exceptional, he captures emotions as well as clear focus. The focus is sharp, the lighting is amazing, and the whole image is utterly fantastic, it tells a story, and plays a part in history.
This is a photo I took of some flowers on Saturday. I enjoy this image for the color, the rule of thirds, and composition. The colors are bright and this gives the image a nice, crisp, and breathable feel. I also enjoy how I used the rule of thirds. The main focus of the image are the flowers, and they are within the middle section of the grid. Lastly, the composition, how the flowers change shape as you look down the line, small, then big, then small, and big again. I think that I could have improved on the focus a bit, it would have made the image stand out more.
